THE MERCURY IGNITION SYSTEM
This standalone or preinstalled system is a true gamechanger! The Mercury Ignition does not require electricity making it an excellent upgrade option for retrofits on existing features or on new features by eliminating the need to source electricity. Parts include the small ignition module, wire and spark rod. Adjacent to the push button ignition is a knob to operate the valve. You simply need to approach the control panel, turns the knob to open the valve, and then presses the button for ignition. Within the pilot assembly, where the spark rod ignites a pilot, there is a thermocouple. The thermocouple, when near a flame (warmed) generates a small voltage and maintains a signal of sorts to the valve assembly that a flame is present, and that it is okay to continue with the flow of fuel. If the flame at the burner is extinguished, the thermocouple will cool, the voltage through the thermocouple will cease and the valve will close to prevent the escape of fuel. This unit can be compliant where building and safety codes require some provision for an automatic shut off. This device (our design) allows for 240,000 BTUs per hour to flow through the system
